# A classic cricket game. A modern browser home.

## What this project provides

`cricket-07.org` is an independent Cricket 07 browser project. It pairs an on-demand WebAssembly and WebGPU game player with an edition selector (Regular vs. Lite), keyboard and Century Stick control references, loading diagnostics, and local OPFS save documentation. It is an independent fan preservation site and is not affiliated with EA Sports or HB Studios.

## Runtime and game resources

The browser player uses static x86-to-WebAssembly recompilation (`cricket07.wasm` + `cricket07.js`), a WebGPU graphics backend (`_c07_gpu_init` / `_c07_gpu_pump`), an `AudioWorklet` ring buffer (`c07-ring`), and Origin Private File System (OPFS) local installation based on the [Cricket 07 WebAssembly port](https://cricket07.dhaiwat.com/). Game archives and runtime files are served from our dedicated Cloudflare R2 CDN (`cdn.cricket-07.org`) through same-origin `/source/*` routes with `COOP` and `COEP` isolation headers.

## Regular Edition and Lite Edition

To respect different network speeds, clicking Play opens an edition chooser before any runtime or game data is downloaded:

- **Regular Edition (740 MB startup)**: Full commentary, complete menu soundtrack, all core game modes, and background `.vp6` broadcast videos.
- **Lite Edition (438 MB startup)**: Fast-start package with all stadiums, rosters, and game modes, without voice commentary and extra music tracks.

## What online means here

Playing Cricket 07 online on `cricket-07.org` means running the single-player game locally inside your desktop browser without installing a separate Windows executable or emulator. Your unpacked game files (`/opfs/c07game`) and personal saves (`/opfs/userdata`) remain on your own device.
